The Festivals of the World Barbie series celebrates the diversity and beauty of festivals in different world cultures.
Chinese New Year Barbie J0928 was issued in 2005. She represents the Chinese celebration which begins on the first day of the first moon of the lunar calendar and lasts for 15 days.
Participants carry long silk dragons and dance in procession to the music of gongs and drums. On the last day, the lantern festival takes place and children carry lighted lanterns in the streets.
Barbie joins the festivities in a red silk gown with yellow flower decals down the front. Gold trim highlights the sleeves, neckline and the slit of her skirt. Her long black hair is styled in several braids and decorated with gold plastic butterflies and flowers. The final touch is a pair of gold plastic dangling butterfly earrings and gold plastic bracelets.
This doll comes posed against a festive yellow and red background. The box is a "cake box" style featuring a cardboard cover with clear plastic on the front.
A doll stand is included in the box as well as a certificate of authenticity.
